Beykoz University Faculty of Art and Design is pleased to announce the 4th International Interdisciplinary Symposium Border/less 4.0: Beyond Crisis: New Acts of Creation.
In an era increasingly defined by global instability ranging from environmental shifts to socio-political upheavals, the state of "crisis" has moved from a temporary disruption to a permanent condition of the 21stcentury. This year, we invite participants to look past the immediate urgency of these moments and instead focus on the radical transformations they trigger. We seek to explore how these ruptures serve as catalysts for new ways of thinking, creating, building, and existing in a world that demands constant adaptation.
The focus of this year’s symposium is the evolving landscape of creativity in the 21st century. As traditional boundaries between disciplines continue to dissolve, "creation" is no longer confined to the studio or the laboratory; it has become a vital tool for resilience, resistance, and innovation. We are looking for contributions that examine how digital transformation, artificial intelligence, ecological necessity, and new social movements are redefining what it means to be "creative." Whether through the lens of design, technology, social sciences, or the arts, we aim to map out the "new acts of creation" that are emerging from the ruins of old structures. This fourth edition of BORDER/LESS symposium serves as a platform for those who refuse to see crisis as an end point, but rather as a beginning for unprecedented imagination. We welcome submissions from scholars and practitioners across the social sciences, arts and humanities, including interdisciplinary and practice-based areas of research and creative inquiry.
The symposium will be held hybrid and the symposium languages are Turkish and English.
